Summary:
The General Adjuster is responsible for investigating and resolving property and casualty claims. This includes gathering and analyzing information, determining liability, negotiating settlements, and closing claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance laws and regulations, as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently evaluate and investigate insurance claims, including property damage, liability, casualty, and other types of claims.
- Analyze insurance policies and contracts to determine coverage, limits, and exclusions applicable to each claim.
- Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and timely reports detailing findings, damage assessments, and recommended claim settlements.
- Conduct on-site inspections to assess damage, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and gather all necessary information to support claim evaluation.
- Engage in negotiations with claimants, policyholders, legal representatives, and third parties to reach equitable settlements.
- Collaborate with experts, contractors, and specialists to estimate repair or replacement costs for damaged property and recommend suitable settlements.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, policyholders, and stakeholders to provide updates on claim status and address inquiries promptly.
- Ensure that all claims processes adhere to industry regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of property field claims experience, with commercial experience preferred.
- Motivated, confident, and experienced in handling field commercial claims.
- Advanced operating knowledge of Xactimate.
- Extensive experience as a General Adjuster or similar role in the insurance industry.
- Profound knowledge of insurance policies, coverage types, and industry regulations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in claims management software and tools.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, willingness to travel as needed to claim locations.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in multiple lines of insurance, such as auto, liability, and property.
- Possession of advanced industry designations.
- Experience handling complex losses, up to and in excess of $5 million.
- 10+ years of claims handling experience.
